2 lakh Indian students in the USA
According to the recently released 'Open Doors Report', around 2 lakh Indian students have chosen the US for higher education in the academic year 2021-22.

The US-based International Education Institute-IIE publishes the report 'Open Doors' every year. Founded in 1919, IIE has conducted statistical surveys of international students in the United States since then.
It has also worked with the US State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs since 1972 to publish data on the number of international students enrolled in US universities and English education programs.
19 per cent more - OPD - 2021-22
The Open Doors 2022 report includes information on international students enrolled in American higher education institutions in the United States and international students studying online from various countries around the world, as well as information on those who received Optional Practical Training - OPD in 2021-22. This is 19 per cent higher than the previous year.
Of the more than ten lakh international students in the US, about 21 per cent are Indian students.

Regarding this, Gloria Perpena, Advisor to the Ministry of Public Relations of the US Government, said, "It is very gratifying that a large number of Indian students have chosen the United States for higher education. This shows that Indian students and their parents recognize the value of American education.
American higher education prepares students by providing them with the skills necessary to meet the world's challenges. "Also, artificial intelligence offers future opportunities in emerging technologies, entrepreneurship and innovation," he said.
